Do Families Need Supplemental Insurance?

We’ve discussed why you should consider life insurance in the past. I personally feel that life insurance is an important thing to consider for any individual, but especially parents. But what about other types of insurance? Did you know that there several types of supplemental insurance in addition to life insurance? Today we’re going to talk about why families should consider supplemental insurance. And yes, I realize, this may seem like a boring topic but I still think it’s something important to consider. Many working families, at the very least, have medical insurance. Some may also have dental insurance. And, many individuals also have car insurance, and homeowners or renters insurance. But what about supplemental insurance? And is it something that families really need? If…

How to Deal with Eczema

As a teenager, I had fairly average skin. Sensitive skin that couldn’t tolerate nickel in anything, but still fairly average. I was susceptible to the occasional acne breakout but overall, my skin was okay. But then, my Junior year of high school, something changed. It started with a red patch on the inside of my elbows. An itchy patch that I tried to leave alone, but just couldn’t. Then that same irritating patch appeared on the backs of my knees. Still, no big deal. I dealt with it because that’s what I had to do. It wasn’t until my Senior year of high school, after dealing with the occasional disappearance and reappearance of the red patches, that it spread to my neck. Before I could…

How to Save on Christmas Gifts

How to Save on Christmas Gifts

Even though it’s not yet officially fall, I firmly believe that you can never start planning for Christmas soon enough. Or maybe it’s just seeing all of the Christmas decorations and craft items at the stores. Maybe it’s both. Whatever the case may be, Christmas is one of those things that is on the back of my mind. In particular, I struggle with Christmas gifts and budgeting for them. I’ve gotten better over the years by buying things throughout the year when they’re on sale instead of waiting until a few weeks before Christmas. I’ve also started looking into more homemade gift options. Those are just two ways I can save money on Christmas gifts, and today I want to talk about other ways to…

Handprint Keepsake Pumpkin Craft for Toddlers or Preschoolers

I have a love for handprint crafts. I think that they’re a lot of fun to do with kids, especially when you do the same ones year after year because you can see just how much your child has grown. Now that Squeaker is becoming more willing to participate in craft time, I’ve tried out a few crafts with her. We made a handprint and pom pom apple tree earlier this month and now we’re moving on to pumpkin themed crafts. For this one, I also tried out a cornstarch based dough instead of a salt dough and I was really pleased with how it turned out. I hope that you and your children will enjoy making this handprint keepsake pumpkin craft as much as…

What Does Being Frugal Mean?

When you hear the word “frugal” what do you think of? What does being frugal mean to you? Does it strike a particular image in your head? Do you conjure up a binder of coupons? Being frugal means different things to different people. So what does being frugal mean and does it really mean that you have to completely alter your lifestyle? Well, yes and no. Just because you’re making the decision to be frugal, doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice everything that you already have. Part of being frugal, to me, means coming to appreciate what you already have instead of constantly wanting things that you don’t have. What does it mean to be frugal? Being frugal, for many, is as much of…

K-Cup Crow Craft

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this, but I absolutely love crows. I’m not sure why because well, yes, they can be loud and annoying. But I find them to be amazingly smart and curious creatures to watch. Every Fall, I take out my stuffed crows so that they can take their places of honor throughout the house. This year, I wanted to try something different. Since I recently started drinking coffee again, we’ve been buying K-Cups because it’s easier for us. We have accumulated quite a few and I wanted to find a way to repurpose them. One of the ideas that I was toying with was making a k-cup crow. How to Make a K-Cup Crow (or Penguin) On second glance, I…
