Squeaker’s Review Corner: VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels

Welcome to a new(ish) addition to Just Another Mom! As you’ve seen in the past, Squeaker has helped me out with reviews before. Mostly with books, but now we’re expanding a bit into the realm of toys. So, any review that’s specifically about toys that she’s participated in, will be in Squeaker’s Review Corner. For our very first post in this category, I am so thrilled to talk to you about our experience with the VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels RC Racetrack. Squeaker honed in on this the day we got it, mostly on the race car so I wasn’t sure if she would enjoy playing with the whole set. Of course that was also dependent on mommy getting said set together properly…. which I…

2 Ingredient Pumpkin Fudge Brownies

I may or may not have mentioned my love for all things pumpkin. And I’m sure that I’ve mentioned that I do have a bit of a sweet tooth. I’m still on a mission to cut back on my sugar intake, so I don’t indulge in a lot of desserts or candy. I treat myself occasionally and I have definitely noticed the difference in my overall health. I’ve also noticed the difference when I go on a bit of a binge. But with this being the season for all things pumpkin, I wanted to try out a brownie recipe. Now, as much as I do like baking from scratch, there are also times that I enjoy the convenience of a boxed mix. Maybe it’s not…

Making the Most of 102 Minutes

We’ve seen it said by experts, or maybe we’ve said it ourselves, “television should not be a babysitter for your child,” and while I do wholeheartedly agree with this statement; I can only agree with it most of the time. I’m a mom of three, certainly not a certified expert in child development but I think I have a grasp on this whole parenting thing. Or at least I’m doing a great job pretending that I do. I’m a stay at home mom, which means of course, that I have all of the time in the world to do crafts, activities, make amazing homemade meals, bake cookies, keep a clean house… you get the picture. So why do I let television occasionally babysit my toddler…

Pork Marsala Casserole

Recently we’ve taken to using pork in our recipes instead of chicken. I enjoy cooking with pork and I find it to be an incredibly diverse meat that won’t quite break the bank like beef. While I haven’t tried substituting it in any red meat based recipes, I’m finding that it does substitute nicely in chicken recipes. We have tried it out most recently in a Marsala and came up with a pork Marsala casserole.  The tastes was a bit more rich and hearty than with a chicken Marsala, but still delicious none the less. One of our go-to meals is a simple pork chops with rice and gravy dish. Everything is prepared in one pan, except for the rice, so the end result is…

How to Develop an Attitude of Gratitude

In a society where everyone seems to be concerned with what their next door neighbor has or what their coworker has accomplished, there seems to be less of a focus on what you already have. In fact, I would ask you to ask yourself: how many times a day are you thankful for what you do have vs. wanting what you don’t have? Of course there’s nothing wrong with wanting stuff- we’re human beings and we all go through it. However, I think it would do us all good to also remind ourselves to be grateful for what we already have. And we can do this by developing an attitude of gratitude. This post contains affiliate links I realize this sounds simple enough, being grateful…
