Daylight Savings Sleep Survival Guide

Thank you to Sleep Number for sponsoring this conversation One of my least favorite days of the year is Daylight Savings Time. I don’t mind so much when the clocks go back, but when the clocks go forward? Ugh. It takes me a few days to get used to losing that extra hour. Thankfully there are a few ways to adjust quicker with this daylight savings sleep survival guide. And our friends at Sleep Number have provided a few more pointers as well. Daylight Savings Sleep Survival Guide  A good night’s sleep is essential to your health and well being. When you lack sleep, it can affect every area of your life, from how you feel to how you perform in your day-to-day activities. Sleeping…

7 Steps to Decluttering

7 Steps to Decluttering

This post was originally published on March 4, 2015 and was a central focus of my Ditch the Junk for Lent Challenge- 40 Days to a Better Me. If you’re still with me for the Ditch the Junk for Lent Challenge, welcome to Week 3! The first two weeks focused on healthier eating by ditching the junk food and reducing sugar intake. Now, for my next focus area, I’m moving on to clutter and organization. If you recall, I have three areas that I’m focusing on (Detoxify, Destress, and Declutter). Today, I want to share with you 7 steps to decluttering and how to start letting go. For me, this is a huge problem. Both Kyle and I are very sentimental people and well, I’ll…

TV For My Toddler

Last month, I think, I remember reading a few posts on Scary Mommy and perhaps BuzzFeed about TV shows that younger kids watch. As a parent of a child with autism, I haven’t escaped those sets of shows since Sweet B was a toddler. Though they’ve changed, like no more Teletubbies (thank goodness), some are still the same. Some aren’t. Recently, Squeaker has taken more of an interest in what’s on TV. We do try to limit her screen time, but there are times that it’s on in the background and she watches in spurts. Tex Mex Inspired Casserole

Tex Mex Inspired Casserole Easy to Make and Easy to Modify Since I completely missed yesterday’s Meal Planning and recipe share, I’m posting this today. This is something that I originally saw in Better Homes and Gardens but has since become something that we turn to often. We’ve tried making this with both ground beef and with ground turkey and while the ground turkey does hold its own, we prefer the ground beef. Alternately, you could use a meat substitute of your choice if you want to turn this into a more vegetarian friendly meal.

10 Benefits of Exercising Regularly for Long Term Health

10 Benefits of Exercising Regularly for Long Term Health

So, I really did have all intention of posting about Yoga, but I haven’t started my at home program. Honestly, I still feel that yoga is a great start when it comes to a fitness program at home for moms. Today though, I still want to have some focus on fitness, so I’m going to talk about the benefits of exercising. I’m going to make every Friday a Fitness Friday, and the Yoga for Beginners (Like Me) series will be on a monthly basis. What I need to start doing is keep a fitness journal or at the very least make an accountability sheet. Yes, I know, there are apps for that but if I write it down and can see it, I’m far more…
