Afterschooling with Sweet B- Letter A

Afterschooling with Sweet B: All About the Letter A I wanted to share with you, one of our afterschooling sessions now that we have most of the components in place. Last week, Sweet B was off from school for February break so I thought we could try some of her afterschooling stuff during the day instead. Prior to this we had only been using a simple system that wasn’t really formal or had a set routine. Now, of course, it’s a matter of integrating the afterschooling activities throughout the week in their correct time. But, the premise is the same when we did this over the course of last week. To kick things off, we’re learning all about the letter A.

Mickey and Minnie Party Ideas

When it comes to birthday party ideas, Disney seemingly never goes out of style. From Frozen to Mickey and Minnie party ideas, the possibilities are practically endless when it comes to the magical world of Disney. I, personally, will always be a Disney person and to be honest- I wouldn’t mind having an Olaf themed birthday party. This post makes use of affiliate links at no additional cost to you. By making a purchase through one of my links, you are helping me support my family. For Squeaker, I think an ideal introduction to the world of Disney parties would be Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse. And for my decorations and party supplies, I’ll start with Birthday n a Box. I’ve always been more of…

Yoga for Beginners (Like Me)

Yoga for Beginners (Like Me)

Yoga has been one of those exercises that I wanted to start and yet, never did. I’m not sure why I kept putting this off… unless it was just my inner procrastinator speaking up, but for whatever reasons or another, I could never get going with it. I’ve bought several DVDs, I got up early to watch Yoga on the fitness on demand channel, I admired (and sometimes wondered) about the videos on YouTube. But I could never motivate myself enough to make it a part of my fitness routine. Until now. So, that’s why I’m starting this yoga for beginners like me series on my blog. I’ll be honest with my attempts, successes, and failures. And, hopefully, prove to myself that yoga is really…

One of the Pillars of our Afterschooling

Pillars of Our Afterschooling As we’re continuing to refine our afterschooling program with Sweet B in terms of supplements and other things, I felt that it was high time that I should talk about one of the pillars of our afterschooling program. One of the reasons I wanted to start afterschooling with Sweet B was to increase her literacy and fine motor skills. Fine motor skills have always been a big area of hers as far as what to work on and literacy is close behind. It’s difficult to measure her literacy since she’s non-verbal but she has shown improvements over the past few years. She’s still nowhere near peers of her age and developmentally is around 6 or 7 years of age. This…

Chicken and Quinoa Casserole

Chicken and Quinoa Casserole (hearty and healthy) My ex was a very picky eater, so convincing him to try something like quinoa just wasn’t going to happen. And if I suggested something like a broccoli and chicken casserole? Forget it. So, when I suggested trying this next recipe to Kyle, I wasn’t sure how it was going to go over. Sure, he’s been a lot more open to trying things and hasn’t said no to anything I’ve suggested. But this, I thought, might be pushing it because it was a chicken and quinoa casserole. Personally, I love quinoa but hadn’t cooked with it too much in the past few years because I was the only one eating it. Then, I came across a delicious casserole…

11 Indoor and Outdoor Frugal Family Activities for the Winter

As we’re in the midst of Winter, and if you’re in the Northeast then you’re probably ready for winter to be over, I wanted to start a new seasonal series. Every two or three months, we’ll start presenting a list of free or almost free frugal family activities that you can do. Sometimes the list will be outdoor ideas, sometimes they’ll be indoor ideas. But for the most part, it will involve stuff that’s nearby or that you may already have on hand. The point to this series is: you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have fun as a family. And since we’re striving to be more frugal, we’re happy to share whatever we come up with in terms of frugal…
