Why I Chose to Pursue an Official ADHD Diagnosis after a Self Diagnosis

I’ll begin this by simply saying: a self diagnosis — whether it’s ADHD or Autism — is perfectly valid. And anyone around you that has a problem with it? It speaks far more to them than it ever does of you. That all said? I self-diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 37. Then, two years later in 2021, I would pursue an official diagnosis. I entered that evaluation thinking, okay – I’ll come out of this with my diagnosis of ADHD and that’s it. But it wasn’t. I walked out of my evaluation as an Autistic and ADHDer adult. Why You Should Prioritize Your Life Instead of Trying to Balance Your Life

For many people, it seems like life has two options: achieving goals and enjoying life. Neither one of them seems as if they are one hundred percent fulfilled. There seems to be a broad spectrum on the scale of go-getters and over-achievers to those who slack in all departments. Do you spend too much or do you have a spending problem?

I will confess that I have a problem… if it’s my own money, I’m a cheapskate, a tightwad.. whatever you’d like to call it. But if it’s someone else’s money? Usually I would have no problem spending it. So maybe I used to have that problem, and occasionally it will still rear it’s ugly head. How did I stop this particular problem? By asking myself: Do you spend too much? And it wasn’t just where it concerned my own money, but any money. I started to consider what I had in terms of cash and credit. Cash, for me, had to become real money and credit cards were borrowed money. It was a hard lesson to learn and one that I’ll cover in a future…

The Life Changing Power of a Predictable Routine for Autistic Women

When people think of routine, they are often thinking about “being stuck in one”. The Five Minute Guide to Organizing Your Mind for Less Mental Clutter

In the digital age, we are more than ever being bombarded with information. This includes everything from the notifications and messages on our phones, to the constant stimulation that comes from the television and the web. At work, things are even worse as we’re constantly focusing on one stream of information and then the next and even when we’re on holiday we willingly subject ourselves to more noise and bright lights in the form of computer games and YouTube videos. Psychologists call this phenomenon ‘Information Overload’ and it’s closely related to another concept known as ‘Decision Fatigue’. Information overload is…
