Monthly Blog and Personal Goals: February 2016
I may have mentioned before that I am a goal oriented person. I like setting goals and I think they keep far more on task then setting something like a resolution. Sometimes I may have issues with achieving my goals, especially if I’m not breaking them up into actionable steps. This is also something that I’m working on in terms of self improvement and time management. It’s all about steps and breaking things up for me because the more I can plan, the better of I am… most of the time. Now if I could just apply all of that to blogging, I might be good to go!
January was an okay month for me on the blog front. I managed to rebrand, mostly with success, from Just Another Mom to Kori at Home. Which you obviously know since you’re reading this post. The rebrand was something that I felt was necessary to do going forward, especially as I’m attempting to build a brand around myself. Kori at Home, the blog in general regardless of what it was named, is the nervous system to my work at home endeavors. In essence, everything else that I plan out in terms of working at home will eventually come back to this blog. So completing the rebrand to something that I felt was more workable and better encompassed my overall vision; was essential.
Blog Goals for February
Looking back, I think I did pretty okay for a blog that launched on the 5th! I’m going to record this in my EBA Planner so I can keep tracking my stats. This is roughly where I left off in December with Just Another Mom and hopefully I can keep that momentum going. If I don’t, I’m also trying not to get hung up on it. That doesn’t do me any favors in the long run because I can get so caught up in numbers that I start to neglect the other aspects.
So, blog goals for next month include:
- Updating old posts for SEO and Pinterest purposes (at least 20, evergreen and seasonal)
- Pushing out old posts on social media through Buffer
- Creating three new landing pages based on keyword searches that I’m already ranking for
- Determining and targeting three new keywords to rank for and/or obtain a steady stream of traffic for
- Write and publish another eBook
- Tweak and refine my social media promotion strategy
- Tweak and refine the structure of my blog
I will also continue to evaluate the information that I’m receiving from custom dashboards in Google Analytics to continue to create keyword plans and to plan content for my blog.
I’m looking forward to the release of EBA 2.0 towards the end of this month. I’ll admit, I probably didn’t go through EBA as thoroughly as I should have the first time around so I’m really looking forward to the updates and applying that knowledge.
Another thing that’s helped me last month and will continue to help me this month, is a blog traffic eBook that I purchased. Packed with 17 actionable steps that are easy to implement, I know that this will also help me with my blog growth.
Personal Goals for February
On a more personal level, I’d like to read at least one book by the end of this month. Whether it’s related to blogging or not, that’s definitely something that I miss doing. I try to re-read Pride and Prejudice monthly just because it’s one of my favorite books. And it’s like an old friend, you know?
I also need to start getting back into shape and exercising more. Either by incorporating yoga or Pilates or even simple stretching and walking. I’ve really fallen off the exercise bandwagon. And my back is suffering for it. I’ve pulled my back twice in the last month. And while I was able to treat it at home and relatively easily, it still wasn’t my favorite thing to deal with.
So that’s what I’m working on for this month, what about you?

I think is an excellent idea to start the month with new goals and I’m sure you are going to accomplish them all! 🙂
Holy s***t you get so many page views! Teach me your secret I would love to replicate your success! How long have you been blogging for?
A lot of it is from Pinterest and SEO. With this blog, I’ve been going at it steadily since the middle of 2014.
I hope your back gets better soon – that kind of pain is the worst. Experienced that a few years back. ugh. Also – how do you get increased users on your blog? I would love to hear your advice.

Me too! Some days it’s definitely better and there are other days that I want to get a standing desk or something, lol. I will have a follow up post about that 🙂
I’m super impressed with your blog growth and future goals. I feel like such a novice reading your post. Feel free to share your ways for those of us still starting out. 🙂
Thank you so much! And I am working on that 😉
Seems like you’re doing great after rebranding and I’m sure the momentum will continue. It can only go up from there. Keep up the good work!
All great ideas! I need to be better about promoting the old stuff! I almost forget that it is there half the time!
It’s always great to start a month with a goal or goals. It keeps us motivating, your blogging achievement is incredible. Can be an inspiration for new bloggers like myself.
Thank you so much, Rose!
I really need to start setting monthly blog goals but I feel like I am always behind on staying on track! Nice job with your traffic!
Your traffic is great! I’d love to get my blog to this level. I have yet to master Pinterest.
Thanks for posting these goals. It encourages me to set goals and manage my blogging time better than I’ve been doing in the past.
I love goals! They keep me motivated to do better. I am incredibly impressed with your blog traffic! That is amazing! I have been blogging for 5 years and can’t seem to get that many pageviews 🙂
Oh my word! Teach me your secret Pinterest ways! Your page view numbers are awesome! And what a great idea to revisit old posts and work on the SEO!
I love the job you did on your rebranding! It looks like you have thought out all aspects of what you want your blog to be in the future. That’s a huge job! I’m still needing to go back and redirect pins after changing last year.
It helps me to focus on only 1-2 goals at a time and create daily sub-goals to move in the right direction. Otherwise it gets too overwhelming. I already have three planners because 1 is just not enough!
Sounds like we have a lot of the same goals! I’m in the process of going threw old post as well for Pinterest and SEO!
I definitely need to read more this month! I enjoy it so much, but I seem to have trouble making time for it!
Wow, I’m jealous of all your blog’s traffic! My number one blog goal this month is to stick to a consistent schedule and make more time for blog posts!
