Is your sleep space looking a little tired? Could it do with a revamp? Well, the good news is it’s easier than ever to bring your bedroom up to date. Just keep reading to find out how.

Opt for a warm neutral color scheme

One of the most straightforward ways to modernize your bedroom is to go for a neutral but warm color scheme. The benefits of such a color scheme include that it will offer a calm and relaxing space in which to sleep, while also feeling cozy and comfortable. Another great benefit of using a neutral color scheme is that it won’t age too quickly, which means your bedroom will end up looking modern for a longer period of time.

In particular opt for warm-toned, whites, creams, and biscuit, and accent with warm grays, and even a little terracotta or peach for a pop of color.

Chose simple, elegant furniture

Next, another easy way of modernizing your bedroom space is to opt for simple, elegant furniture. Look for items that are designed well and provide plenty of room for storage, but stay as close to linear as possible.

This means finding pieces like this chest of drawers that look great but keep decorative flourishes to a minimum. Indeed, this type of furniture will help you create a super modern and stylish look, and ensure that your bedroom revamp doesn’t date too fast either.

Pay attention to the lighting

The lighting that you choose can truly revolutionize your bedroom, and modernize it with the flick of a switch. Steer clear of flouncy fabric lamp shades, and instead opt for covers made from woven bamboo, or wicker.

Alternatively, you may wish to leave the covers off your lights altogether and go for linear, geometric cages around your lights, with an exposed bulb. Just be sure to pick an Edison-style bulb to give you the perfect soft-industrial look that is so on-trend right now.

Opt for texture over patterns

There are so many wonderful patterns around that it can be hard to resist their charm. However, for a truly modern look that is also restful enough for the bedroom, emphasizing pattern with texture over patterns can be particularly effective.

What this means is instead of opting for wallpapers, bedclothes, and soft furnishings with vibrant multicolor patterns, it’s best to look for single-color pieces that express patterns with texture instead. A great example of this is a simple cream bedspread with raised loop work creating the pattern.

Say goodbye to your carpet

While there are advantages to having carpet in the bedroom, it can become worn and dated very fast. A better alternative is to have the carpet pulled up and install wooden flooring instead. The great thing about wooden flooring is that it comes in options suitable for all budgets.

For example, if you’re looking to save money then laminate flooring is often reasonably priced. However, if you have the funds to splash out solid wood flooring, look great, be robust and keep your bedroom looking as up-to-date as possible for as long as possible.
