Handprint and Pom Pom Apple Tree

We’re definitely getting into the arrival of Fall (and the early apples at the Farmer’s market). Last week we shared an easy toilet paper stamping apple art project and this week we have another hands-on fun activity. It’s Squeaker’s first time doing anything handprint related with paint, though we’ve done a few handprint projects by tracing. I wasn’t too sure how she’d like it, but once I showed her what to do, she really got into it. Then, of course, she looked at her hands then at me and asked “What did you do?” Still, she had a lot of fun making this handprint and pom pom apple tree. Next time we do this, I’ll have different colored pom poms for variety. This post makes…

Easy Toilet Paper Roll Apple Stamping

The early apples were available at the Farmer’s market, and to me- that’s a sure sign that Fall is just around the corner. I love this time of the year for the leaf changing, apples, and all things pumpkin. To celebrate the return of fresh, local apples, Squeaker and I did a simple toilet paper roll apple stamping art project. I am one of those moms who saves toilet paper rolls, because well, you never know when you’ll be able to use them for crafts and art projects. Next we’ll make an apple tree and we’ll probably do a few more toilet paper roll crafts and art projects in the near future. This was also a fun and sneaky way to get Squeaker to use…

Two Easy Shaun the Sheep Inspired Crafts

We’re on a bit of a Shaun the Sheep kick though I still haven’t decided if I’ll take Squeaker to see the movie when it comes out. I just don’t know if she’ll sit through it all. But that hasn’t stopped us from making two more Shaun the Sheep crafts. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t forget to check out our Shaun the Sheep craft that we posted last week. This week we’re sharing two easy Shaun the Sheep inspired crafts. Squeaker did help me with some of the assembly, but how much your child is involved will definitely depend on age. The Day The Crayons Came Home

Squeaker and I recently had the opportunity to participate with a team of bloggers to promote the new book The Day The Crayons Came Home. I had read the Day the Crayons Quit before and I had intended to use it our tot school and home preschool at some point. So to have the opportunity to use the new book and do a few informal lessons on colors was definitely welcomed. The point, to me, of doing Tot School during the summer is to get Squeaker used to “lessons” and learning time. As she gets older, of course, we’ll move to more formal lessons and longer time periods. But, for now, these simple activities are a great way to get both of used to it….

Easy Shaun the Sheep Craft

Squeaker is absolutely in love with Shaun the Sheep! She’s had a Shaun stuffed animal of her own for a little over a year now and it was just recently that she discovered the Shaun the Sheep cartoon series on the Kindle. We’ve also watched A Close Shave with her, and she seemed to be pretty fond of that when the sheep were around. With the movie coming out here in the United States soon, and Squeaker getting ever so excited when she sees the trailer, I thought we could make an easy Shaun the Sheep Craft. It was her first time doing a craft with me but I think she did pretty well!  This post contains affiliate links and while you are under no…

Watercolor Painting for Toddlers

As we do our informal tot school over the summer, I’ve been looking for different ways to get Squeaker engaged. It’s not something that I want to force with her because I want her to enjoy the summer. We’ve been spending a bit of time outside, but only when it’s not too humid or hot. Most of the time she’s content to just play in her little wading pool or we’ll head up to the park to go play in the splash pool. Yesterday though, we tried out something different. The end result? Easy watercolor painting for toddlers. She had fun with it and afterwards, we played with the hose. While you could most certainly does this indoors as well, we chose to go outside…
