All three of my pregnancies were what you could say, happy surprises. And each pregnancy came at a different stage of my life. My first pregnancy I was in high school and all of 16 years old when I had my son. My second pregnancy, I was 19 and just starting out on my own. Then with my third pregnancy, I was 32 and had finally started to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. The timing of each pregnancy may not have been exactly right, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Each time, on it’s own, was the perfect time to have a baby.
With my most recent pregnancy, both Kyle and I knew that we wanted to have more children. We were both bringing two children into our relationship but it was still something that we did agree upon. He comes from a larger family as the second oldest of 6, while I have one younger brother.
I already had my boy and my girl but, at the same time, there was a part of me that wanted to expand that family. I wasn’t sure how large I wanted my family to be, but I knew I wanted to have more children.
The circumstances surrounding my pregnancy probably could have been better, but again, I wouldn’t change anything for the world.
It’s lead me to wonder if there is ever a perfect time to have a baby.
Sometimes it might be age, money, relationship status, or any number of things that could be holding someone back. Maybe it’s the timing and wanting to get a career established before having children.
No matter what the reason, there always seems to be something that holds people back or could lead them to think that it’s not the perfect time.
But is there really any such thing as perfect?
For me, personally, perfection and perfect are states of illusion.
So maybe there is no perfect time to have a baby and maybe it just depends on whatever is going in our lives.
