It’s no secret that we love Eric Carle’s books in our household. Both of my daughters absolutely love this style and the Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of our all-time favorites. I’ve created a Very Hungry Caterpillar printable pack in the past but now, I wanted to make something that was a little bit more fun.

And that could also help with both of my daughters with taking turns.

So, we combined our love of Eric Carle with our love of Bingo – and made this free printable Very Hunger Caterpillar Bingo game.

Why play bingo with younger children?

For one, it helps with taking your turn. And it’s a great opportunity to continue conversations. Bingo is fun because you can play this as a traditional Bingo game (three in a row – diagonal, vertical, or horizontal) or you can do all card bingo. 

The choice is really up to you, especially with younger kids.

What’s included in the Very Hungry Caterpillar Bingo Pack

You get a set of call cards (and because this was meant for younger children, the FREE space is the Very Hungry Caterpillar).

And you also get five Bingo cards:

Again, because these were designed for younger children, it is not a traditional Bingo card. Rather, it is Bingo inspired. So, you can adapt the rules as necessary. 

You can have children working together in groups or working individually for a center. You can have a teacher or parent as the caller, or you can print out the call cards and laminate them and then have the child use the Bingo card as a matching card.

Really, it’s up to you. Just make it fun for the kids- that’s the whole point!

If you want to give out prizes, again, that’s up to you. You can do fun little trinkets and goodies related to the book or you can use stickers.

Yesterday was International Children’s Day and I wanted to get outside with Squeaker to teach her how to play hopscotch… Or, at the very least, show her what it was like and give our neighborhood an invitation to play.
