Are you looking to sell your home? If the answer is yes, then you might have a timeframe in mind in which you would like the house to be sold. It doesn’t have to be a tough thing to do, as long as you are willing to do whatever needs to be done. Some people think that because you have to put a little extra effort in that it’s not worth it, but that simply isn’t the case. You might not even know what you need to do in order to get your home ready for a quick sale, but that’s okay because that’s exactly why we’ve written this article. If you would like to find out more about how to do this, keep reading down below.
Make It Blank
The first thing that you are going to need to do is create a blank canvas for the people who are going to be purchasing the home. When you show people the space, you want them to imagine themselves living there, not seeing someone else’s home. They need to be able to look and see somewhere that they would like to spend a lot of their time. They want to see somewhere that their kids can grow, or that they can do anything they want in. They don’t want to be bombarded with pictures of your family and the memories that you have created here, as all this will do is remind them that it is someone else’s home.
But how do you do this? Well, the first thing that you’re going to do is paint the walls white. This gives the blank canvas illusion that you are going for as the potential buyer will be able to imagine anything they want. It’s easier when everything looks blank, which is why it’s the best thing for you to do.
Let The Light In
Another thing that you should consider is letting the light in. The thing about light is that it has the ability to make a space look even bigger than it is. Some people don’t know how to use lighting to their advantage, and if this is you then we suggest talking to an expert and asking them how to do this. Ideally, you want to take down any blinds and curtains that aren’t necessary, at the very least ensuring that everything is open when you have someone coming to view the home.
You can use some artificial lighting to create a good mood in your home, but if you’re going for space and wanting to make people happy, natural light is the way to go. In fact, you could even go as far as to install a skylight if this is possible in your home and you have the ability to do so.
Consider The Exterior
Have you even thought about the exterior? The exterior is the first impression that anyone is going to get of your home so you need to make sure that it is a good one. If the lawn is currently coming up to your ankles, then get your mower out and take care of it. If you have dead flowers in the front, make sure to get rid of them and either plant new ones or don’t bother. As long as it looks tidy, and it appeals to the eye, this is all that really matters at the end of the day.
You also want to make sure that you have cleaned the exterior. Yes, you read that right, you need to clean it. Now, you might be sitting there wondering how you’re supposed to clean your exterior, and the answer is simple: pressure washing. You don’t have to do this yourself as it can be quite difficult to handle, which is why we highly recommend using the services of As New Again Pressure Washing or another company that offers the same service. It’s well worth the money, and will make your exterior look fantastic.
The Back Garden
Once you’ve sorted out the exterior to the front, you then need to look at the back. We know that a lot of people leave their back garden to grow into some sort of hell, but you can’t sell a home if it’s like this, and definitely not quickly. Everything needs to look fantastic which means that you need to give the back the same level of attention that you gave to the front. Create something beautiful back there, but make sure that you don’t go overboard.
One of the things that people are always looking for is a patio, so if you don’t have one, and you have time to put one in, do it. It’s going to boost the value of your home, and it is going to make it more appealing to buyers. It isn’t going to take much, but it’s going to make a big difference to the end result.
Clutter Will Hinder You
A lot of people have clutter in their home, despite the fact that minimalism is the latest trend. The problem is that if your space is currently covered in clutter, not only is it going to make the space look smaller, but again, it’s going to remind people that someone else is living there. While it’s obvious that this is the case anyway, you don’t need to remind anyone of it. As such, we highly recommend that you go around your home room by room and get rid of some of the clutter. We’re not saying that you need to get rid of all of this stuff if you don’t want to, but it needs to go away. It’s up to you whether you choose to store it in your attic or basement, or if you want to hire a storage unit somewhere.
If you don’t know where to start, then just pick any room. It doesn’t matter as long as you have made a start somewhere. From there, you can work your way around the home and it will be done in no time.
Fix What Is Broken
Finally, if you want a quick sale then you are going to have to fix anything that is broken. We don’t just mean the major things like leaking pipes or problems with the foundations. We also mean the things like little holes in the walls because they can be annoying. If you need a quick move, then you need to be selling a near perfect house to the people who are looking to purchase. That means that you need to go around, make a list of the repairs that need doing and then get them done before the house goes up on the market.
It shouldn’t take too long to do, and if you need to hire help then the internet is going to be your best friend. Just ensure that you check reviews before you hire someone, as you don’t want someone working for you who has a reputation for terrible customer service.
We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you should be doing if you’re trying to create the ideal home for a quick sale. Some people make it out like it’s the most difficult thing in the world, but we can assure you that it isn’t. Just a few simple changes and an attention to detail and everything is going to be absolutely fine. We wish you the best of luck and hope you get the quick sale that you are hoping for soon.
