Creating A Cozy Kitchen: 5 Ideas For Success

If you are looking to give your kitchen a cozy makeover then you have come to the right place. Below you’ll find some great suggestions on how to transform your kitchen space into a cozy haven.

Walls

Let’s begin our quest for a cozy kitchen with walls. Walls are incredibly important when decorating a room because they take up a great deal of square footage, so you’ll want to make sure you get the right one. For a cozy feel, organically inspired warm colors such as cream, bisque and terracotta are a great start. You may even want to accent one wall with wallpaper, although it’s best to pick the wall furthest away from the sink and cooker so your wallpaper has a chance of lasting a long time. 

Flooring 

When creating a cozy kitchen you have to get the flooring right. That means it’s out with the cold-looking slate gray tiles and in with terracotta Mexican style stiles instead. Of course, there are many different types of Mexican tiles you can choose from for your floor. A handmade clay tile in an arabesque pattern can look particularly good, although a picket pattern can create an unusual texture that adds additional interest to a room. 

Cabinets 

When it comes to cabinets in a cozy kitchen you have to think carefully about your choice. They not only have to match your design scheme but have to be appealing to potential buyers in the future as well. This is because when you sell your house, one of the main things people look for are great kitchen cabinets, as this means they will not have to replace them. 

For a cozy feel wood finished cabinets are always a good choice, especially in pine, or oak that is varnished. Such cabinets can also help give your kitchen a homely rustic feel. However, if you would rather have the convenience of cabinet doors with a plasticized coating (they are much easier to keep clean) a warmer tone of cream, or brown will work best. 

Table and Chairs 

What use is a cozy kitchen if you have nowhere comfortable to sit and enjoy it? With that in mind, considering adding a kitchen table and chairs in a rustic style can work well. Real wood tables made in a classic farmhouse style are best, and you can add chairs on one side and a bench on another. Be sure to add chair pads to make sitting extra comfy and you can enjoy your cozy kitchen at your leisure. 

Soft furnishings 

Now, you may think that soft furnishings have no place in a kitchen after all, it’s a place where food is cooked and grease can collect. However, this is only sometimes the case. Indeed, you will need at least curtains or blinds in your kitchen and if your space is large enough and you have seating you’ll want cushions, chair pads, and maybe even throws as well. Of course, the key to getting these right is to make sure that you choose warm colors. Terracotta, cappuccino, and even peach can work very well for soft furnishing but if you want something lighter do remember to go for cream instead of white for that extra cozy feel.
