Have you heard of leaky gut syndrome and it's possible connection to autism? How do you even begin to treat leaky gut syndrome?

Leaky Gut Syndrome and Autism

Have you ever heard of leaky gut syndrome? Or maybe you’ve heard of the possible connection between leaky gut syndrome and autism and you’re wondering- just what is leaky gut syndrome. I’ve been there. In that almost exact sequence- plugging into trusty Google “leaky gut syndrome and autism” Maybe it was one night reading about possible causes of autism or possible treatments for autism; I’m really not sure how it all came about. I just remember seeing the term and wondering just what the heck it was and how it could possibly be related to my daughter’s autism. Sure, I’d seen quite a bit of research done on gluten and how eliminating gluten and casein from the diet helped. But beyond that I hadn’t looked….

In search of a delicious breakfast idea? Try this easy baked chocolate French toast.

Baked Chocolate French Toast

I love French toast though I don’t make it too often. It’s not that it’s too much of a process, just that I don’t always feel like standing in front of the stove and babysitting my breakfast. Recently though, I discovered a few recipes for baked French toast. My interest was peaked because it looked like the ideal way to make it. So, I decided to try it with chocolate milk and ended up with an easy baked chocolate French toast recipe. Next time I do this, I’ll probably try a different bread but I just wanted to use what we had on hand. I may also adjust the amount of cinnamon that I used, but for the most part- this is definitely a keeper….

Try this quick and easy variation on egg salad, with just two ingredients.

Two Ingredient Avocado and Egg Salad

Recently, I had tried out a recipe for deviled eggs (one of my personal favorite appetizers) and instead of using mayo, the recipe called for avocado. Now, I’m a huge fan of anything with avocado in it so I thought- why not give this a try. The end result was a tasty treat so I had to reason that if it worked with deviled eggs, it should also work with egg salad. Same process, just different application. I love egg salad sandwiches and yes, I’m one of those people who will eat egg salad on it’s own. I also love avocado and again, I’m just as happy to eat the avocado right from the skin with a spoon. So combining these two in a simple,…

Figuring out the best autism treatment options can be one of the most overwhelming things following an autism diagnosis.

Treatment Options for Children with Autism

Perhaps one of the more overwhelming things after receiving Sweet B’s diagnosis, was figuring out the best possible ways to help her. At the time, she was already receiving special education services, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy at home. But, it was also evident that she needed more support. As her mom, of course, I felt that I was more than qualified to help her in whatever way possible but I also realized that I was limited in my abilities. That’s not to say that I couldn’t have learned or that I couldn’t have prepared the type of environment that she needed. But what she needed was also beyond my own ability to provide. So it was at that time that I started…
