Super Simple Gross Motor Activity

If you’re like us and find yourself ordering from Amazon often, this super simple gross motor activity is for you! You could also substitute balloons or bubble wrap but we happened to have a lot of these on hand. While we don’t mind having those packing materials around, we were looking for something else to do with them. T & J enjoy stomping on them and I can remember one day last Fall when they took a bunch of them outside to have a jump fest. Squeaker, at the time, was too little to partake. But, since she’s become more active, I thought it might be fun to try with her. We also turned this into a counting game but counting the number of times…

Road to Motherhood

Road to Motherhood

This is another entry in the ‘All About Me’ mini-series. I figured since the name of the blog is Just Another Mom, I should probably attempt to chronicle my journey to motherhood. This story takes place in three parts, as I am a mom of three, and is spread out at different parts of my life. Each part is decidedly different, but has definitely defined who I have become as a person. Each experience is as different as each child, not that I would have expected any differently. I begin my road to motherhood at the tender age of 15. I was a sophomore in high school, irresponsible, and afraid. Luckily, my mom was supportive and understanding, though I’m sure she was also disappointed. Still,…

With summer just around the corner, we’re searching for fun ideas to keep us outdoors. For us that means water play and bubbles. Squeaker is just starting to be interested in bubbles, so I’m planning a ton of summer bubble fun ideas for her to enjoy while Sweet B is away at day camp. But the fun won’t stop there, of course, because I know that Sweet B will want to participate too. Ultimate Olaf Gift Guide

I have a confession- I love Olaf. Yes, Olaf the Snowman from Frozen. Squeaker is a fan too, though we try not to watch the full movie often. Mostly we just look on YouTube for Olaf clips. She does have a few Olaf toys so I thought- why not create an ultimate Olaf gift guide? I’m also going to include a few free resources in here because everyone loves free, right? This gift guide includes suggestions for adults too, but is mostly geared towards kids… or kids at heart, like myself. Have you recently been diagnosed with a hyper or hypo thyroid? This is something that I manage daily.

Making Sense of Thyroid Disease

I was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid when I was in my mid-20s. It was never enough to be on medication but enough that I had to go to the endocrinologist every six months for blood work. Before that, I just thought I had a high metabolism. But then I started getting heart palpitations, I was always hungry, my sleep patterns were off… something just wasn’t right. I knew there was something wrong but I couldn’t put a finger on it. That’s why today’s post is about making sense of thyroid disease and understanding what it is. First, let’s talk about the thyroid. It’s located in your throat and is part of the endocrine system. The thyroid produces T3 and T4 hormones that regulate your metabolic…
