How Will You Decorate for Christmas?

One of my favorite times of the year is Christmas season. And by Christmas season, I generally mean the day after Thanksgiving until a week or so after Christmas. I admit, sometimes I will start listening to Christmas music earlier than that and each year, I debate if I want to take out the decorations sooner. So yes, I am one of those people that will start decorating early. Will you decorate for Christmas this year? Do you have traditions that you uphold? What about homemade decorations? Over the years, my decorating style has changed but I still have a few tried and true decorations that have stuck with me over the years. Each year, it seems, I add new decorations though I tend to…

Four Season Lawn Care: Fall and Winter

Now that we’re getting into the heart of Fall here in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s time to start talking about lawn care for the rest of this season and into next. While we might not think it’s quite as important because we may not see our lawns quite as much, especially if we’re in an area of the country that gets a lot of snow; taking care of our lawn during all four seasons is important. We had briefly touched on spring and summer lawn care, so today let’s talk about fall and winter lawn care. Fall Lawn Care Many people feel that fall is the time to let the mowing go and not have to worry about the lawn. But fall is the time…

Benefits of Seasonal Work

Though I am now perfectly content to be a stay at home mom and looking into other options as a work at home mom (since the professional blogger title is one that I’m growing into), I’ve sometimes thought about looking for a job outside of the home. Before Squeaker was born, I worked in retail and prior to that I worked in a daycare setting, and prior to that I worked in retail. Before that I was a stay at home mom with Sweet B. So between my stints as a stay at home mom, I’ve worked outside of the home. The biggest gap was after Sweet B was born as I was out of the workforce from the time she was 6 months old…

Should You Get a Payday Loan?

By now, I’m sure we’ve all seen the commercials out there for payday loans. It’s quick, easy money when you need it. But is getting a payday loan worth it? Is it really something that you should consider when you need money? This was something that my ex and I had once discussed, before we ultimately decided to ask for a credit extension on one of my credit cards. Looking back, I wish I hadn’t done it, but what’s done is done. I also, at the time, applied for a loan from the bank- which again, I wish I hadn’t. I would have liked to have been more mindful with my money, but… well, things happen. But, what works (or didn’t) for me, might work…

Easy Letter Matching Activity

Easy Letter Matching Activity

As we have our informal tot school, and by informal I mean we do a fair amount of free play, learning through play, pretend play, reading books, arts and crafts; sometimes I’ll try to sneak in a learning activity. But those learning activities are also play based, or at least have some element of play in them. I want to keep it simple enough for Squeaker and yet still with an element of challenge so she’s working on her skills. Things like fine motor, gross motor, letter identification, and that sort of thing. For Squeaker, this also means playing games and having learning activities that can be quick in nature or that she can come back to when her attention span allows for it. We’ll…

The Walking Dead Season 6 Premiere Review

So, have I mentioned that I’m a fan of the Walking Dead? I started watching when season 1 first premiered on AMC though, I did lapse and binged watched Season 2 and 3 until I was caught up and ready for Season 4 live on TV.  During my binge watching, I also got Kyle hooked. Not too hard to do since he also likes horror movies and the horror genre. Though we like this more for the survivalist aspect… Anyway, moving. Part of my issue is, The Walking Dead is on Sunday night. Sunday Night Football is also on at this time, and well, as much as I love The Walking Dead… Football still reigns supreme. But, so long as it’s not a team that…
