What are you doing for the summer? We’re hoping to take at least one trip to a state park so we can visit the lake and take advantage of the beach! With thanks to Hyland’s Earache Drops for sponsoring this conversation, we are sharing our essentials for what to pack for a day at the beach with a toddler.
Now I realize, when most think of taking a trip to the beach, they think of going to the ocean. However, you can have just as much fun as a local park that also has a lake. Plus, it’s more convenient for us to get to the state parks than it is to get to the ocean for the day.
In fact, planning a day at the beach is a great way to spend the day at the family and have more of a staycation than a vacation.
But why choose a staycation?
For us, it means being able to save money while still having fun. We can also explore any of the local sights that are near Albany.
There are several state parks near to us that have lakes with a beach. And at this point, it’s also a lot less intimidating than going to the ocean.
Regardless, if we’re going to enjoy the lake or the ocean, our packing list would remain the same for a day of fun.
Our checklist may look different than yours, but for the most part you’ll want to make sure that you have:
- Extra changes of clothes (for everyone)
- Swim diapers (as needed)
- Extra blankets and towels
- Shoes (water shoes and sneakers)
- Snacks
- Bottled water
- sunscreen
- sun hats
- sunglasses
- Hyland’s Earache Drops
You can download a copy of our check list if you’d like.
Of course, while you can’t predict the weather, it’s always good to keep track of it the day before, and the day that you leave. Otherwise you just may end up soaked from the rain instead of the water. Not fun, you know?
If that’s the case, check out the local surroundings and see what else you can take advantage of this summer
Made for the relief of earaches from non-chlorinated water, Hyland’s Earache Drops help to relieve common symptoms of earaches such as: fever, pain, irritability and sleeplessness. They are a natural, homeopathically-prepared blend of botanicals and minerals.
They’ll help us be able to enjoy the day and make the most of our time at the beach.
Are you planning a trip to the beach with your family this summer? What’s in your beach bag?

The earache drops are genius!!! I live 30 minutes from the beach but hate going. The family loves it though. I am putting that in my beach bag next time.
I read this and seriously was wondering where this post was at before we went on vacation to Florida last month. You see, I made this entire list and sure enough forgot about adding this product. Sure enough one on my boys ended up needing earache drops. Thank for the checklist will sure use it for our next beach trip.
