There will come a time in everyone’s lives where they should move home and start a fresh new chapter. Life is full of opportunities and there will be many different phases we go through from our first home to our first child.

But when do you know that it’s time to move on from your current home and find a new one? There can be many reasons for moving house, and today we want to show you whether or not you should consider making a move this year.

Your family is growing

One of the main reasons for moving house is having a growing family to take care of. If you are having a child or you are planning to try for a baby, you might not want to stay in a small home and this is where a move should be considered. If you are currently living in a home that has only one or no spare bedrooms, this is a huge sign that you should upscale and find somewhere that will cater more to your needs.

You want more space

One of the signs you might want to start house hunting is that you are starting to feel cramped in your home. If you bought a simple 2 up 2 down when you bought your first home, this might not be right for you anymore and it is easy to start feeling trapped and cramped. It is natural to outgrow a house after a few years, and if you are reaching a point where you want to spread your wings, start looking for alternative options for yourself.

You’ve changed your career

Sometimes the decision to move house might not be down to your personal life at all. A change in your job might cause you to move home to be closer to your workplace. Or perhaps if you have started working from home as an entrepreneur you might want to move to a more secluded and peaceful destination to suit your new lifestyle.

You want a new setting

Sick of living in the city? Start considering moving to the suburbs instead. Throughout our lives we will look for different things in our home, and other lifestyles will also heavily impact the house we want to buy. As a younger working professional an apartment in the center of the city might be better suited to you, but as you grow and look to settle down, you may want to buy a house in the suburbs where you can raise a family. Consider where you are in your life and where you want to be, and use this to decide where you will live.

You’re bored

Lockdown affected all of us in different ways – but for many of us it made us feel bored of living in the same house. If you simply need a fresh start to be happier, then take the opportunity to find a new home that is more suited to your needs.
