Sharing is caring!

Summer is well and truly here and because of this you may need to start thinking about how you can keep yourself feeling cooler and happier. Summer is a lovely time to be outside and enjoy the good weather. Using it as an opportunity to exercise and see friends, especially now that we can socialize a little more after the recent guidance to stay at home. We can all enjoy the summer safely but we also want to ensure that we keep cool. With that in mind, here are some of the ways we can do it.

Use an air conditioning unit

One of the first things to think about would be to install an air conditioning unit if you haven’t got one already. It is a great way to keep the interiors of rooms in your home you frequent the most cool. An air conditioning unit can be a great way to help you do this and it is easier to get installed than you might think. If you have one already, why not think about getting it serviced and checked over so you know it is working as it should be.

Cold drinks and treats

There is nothing quite like enjoying a cold drink or a treat on a hot day. Whether that is adding lots of ice to your favorite drink or enjoying a frozen ice lolly or ice cream. You can buy these in the shops or have a go at making your own. The home made ones can be extra healthy and also a great activity to do with children if you want to keep them occupied for a while. You can find a lot of recipes online.

Close all blinds and curtains

If you want to keep your home cool and don’t have the benefit of an air conditioning unit then you could look at closing all of the blinds or curtains during the day. Keeping a room dark can help to stop the sunlight shining through and have the glass heat up the room. This could be especially important for bedrooms as no one enjoys sleeping in a hot and stuffy room.

Let air circulate in the morning and at night

First thing in the morning and last thing at night is the ideal time to let the cool air circulate your home and freshen it up. So open all of the windows and let the air in. It is the ideal thing to do before shutting your curtains and blinds for the day and can be another way to keep your home cool in the summer.

Cool clothing and keeping activities to a minimum

Finally, you also need to think about your own body temperature so ensure you wear clothes made of cool clothing like linen. You should also try and keep activities to a minimum to help you feel cooler at the hottest points of the day. If you exercise try and do this first thing or last thing at night.

Let’s hope these suggestions keep you cool in the summer.
