Super Simple Card Ideas for Toddlers

Kyle’s birthday was last week and mine falls in the first week of February. There’s also Valentine’s Day in February and numerous birthdays coming up in the next few months. Because of this, I wanted to start looking for cards to send. But, since I’m also cheap trying to be frugal, I wanted a way to make cards at home. Then I had the brilliant idea to get Squeaker involved… especially for Kyle, because well, why not make a homemade card for daddy? We ended up making three cards for his birthday this year, one that ended up being a joint project with T & J when they were here on the weekend. Easy Core Exercises to do at Home

If you’re looking to improve your health and wellness as a stay at home mom, I feel you. Usually, I don’t leave the house unless we’re going grocery shopping, to a doctor’s appointment, or for one of Sweet B’s school functions. Honestly, I prefer it like that. I do take walks when the weather is nicer but, it’s also nice to have at-home exercise options. One of the things that I hope to do is yoga, but I also want other options. That’s why I’m sharing my picks for easy core exercises to do at home. Usually, I try to find a workout that’s going to target several muscle groups at once. Books and a Printable Pack for MLK Jr. Day

Every year on the third Monday of January, the United States observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day (or MLK Jr. Day) in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. For most, it just means a day off from school and a three day weekend. Now, as a mom, it presents an opportunity to get in a day of edutainment (Educational and entertainment) with Sweet B and Squeaker. This year, I’m sharing a list of books and a printable pack for MLK Jr. Day. The books are divided by recommended age group and the mini printable pack contains pages that are suitable for multiple ages. Don’t feel pressured to use all of the pages. And if you’re looking for even more ideas, be sure to check…

Easy and Simple Every Day Play

Squeaker turned a year old on December 5th and while I’ve seen different criteria for classifying a child of her age; we alternate between calling her an older baby or a toddler (… toddling terror, to be specific). She is walking and walking quite well, and she uses walking as her primary form of movement. She’ll only crawl now if it’s to reach something that she can’t bend down and pick up. But, even with all of her walking, I still try to find easy play ideas that will keep her moving, keep her occupied and also facilitate some sort of independent play. I’m not trying to say that I want her to play independently all the time- she’s still just a baby (in my…

Yoga for Kids (and adults, too!)

I’ll have another post up soon about all of the components that we’re using for our afterschooling program, and today I wanted to share another part of it. Sweet B does receive adapted physical education time as a part of her IEP. They have a nice gym at her school with adaptive equipment available. She also goes bowling on the weekends and will soon start taking part in swimming lessons. One of the other ways we get our physical activity and gross motor play in, is by adding in a board game to our afterschooling routine. But this isn’t just your average board game- this one promotes yoga for kids (and adults, too!).
