Sharing is caring!

Having pets in the home is great, and a wonderful way to make your house a true home. But if you are keen to have them and you are thinking about how they might affect the home, one of the main ways in which this might happen is that it can often be hard to keep a home completely clean when you have pets running around. If you are wondering what you can do to more effectively keep your home clean with pets running around, there are a few things to consider. Let’s take a look at those right now.

Invest In A Good Vacuum Cleaner

One of the main issues with pets is that they leave fur lying around the place, so you will need to have a decent way to deal with that. As it happens, it’s relatively easy to do so, and in most cases all you will really need is a good quality vacuum cleaner. As long as you have that, you should find that you are much more likely to keep that fur away. You might want to get a Miele vacuum that is specifically made for dog and cat owners, as these are especially good at getting that fur out of the carpet.

Groom Regularly

With most breeds of cats and dogs, regular grooming is necessary to ensure that they don’t molt too much. But if you leave them be, you will find that their hair gets everywhere in no time at all. Make sure that you have invested in a decent brush that you can use on them, and then set up a regular time about once a week when you groom them thoroughly. This not only makes them look better and is comfortable for them, it also helps to keep their fur from getting everywhere the rest of the week, so you have more control over it this way.

Remove Urine Stains

It’s not just fur that you have to think about here, however. Sometimes you are also going to be contending with urine stains, and this can happen for both cats and dogs. Both kinds of pets can be trained not to do this, but when they are young there might be times when it happens anyway. Fortunately, in most cases you can easily remove urine stains from any surface, as long as you get to it quickly and you use a product that picks it up easily.

Regular Bedding Change

Their bedding needs to be changed every two weeks at least. This will help to stop any nasty smells spreading, and it will mean that bacteria is not given much of a chance to multiply. You’ll also find that it helps with keeping away ticks and fleas and so on too. Change their bedding regularly and your home is going to be a lot nicer in general, even if you have twenty dogs and cats all running around. You’ll be able to keep on top of it much easier if you draw up a schedule.
