A Much Needed Dose of Serenity

Happy Friday, my friends! This week’s freebie Friday offering comes along with a personal story. While it’s not absolutely necessary for the freebie, I think it would help explain why I chose this particular quote for this week’s freebie. As you may or may not know, I’m going through a divorce. While my ex husband and I have been legally separated for two years, we still need to finalize the divorce. It’s really just a matter of formality and legal fees at this point. And in the meanwhile, we’re co-parenting Sweet B. She’s with me during the week and with him during the weekend, and for the most part, it’s been peaceful. Until this past Monday. Let me set the scene: I was upstairs, in…

Teaching Kids to Set Money Saving Goals

Welcome back to part two of our teaching kids to save money series! Last week, we kicked it off by talking about one method to teach kids to save money by using a piggy bank system. Today, we’re going to talk about setting money saving goals and when to start. This ties in with teaching your child how to budget, so you might want to take a peek at that post as well. It begins when they’re very young. You’re at the store and your child begins to ask for things. They ask for candy. They ask for toys. They ask for stuffed animals and bright balloons. These sometimes challenging situations are also opportunities. They’re opportunities to teach children that you can’t always get what…

Budget Friendly Labor Day Party

Just as Memorial Day seems to be the unofficial start to Summer, Labor Day seems to be the unofficial end. Of course, we know that for us in the Northern Hemisphere, Summer starts in June and Fall begins in September… but for some, Fall begins after Labor Day. I’ve never been able to figure out why. Maybe it’s because by that time, most of the country is back to school. Or, for the most part, cooler weather has started to arrive or is at least on the horizon. So how does on celebrate Labor Day and enjoy the extended weekend? I have a few ideas for a budget friendly Labor Day party that you might want to consider. As summertime nears an end, many people…

Whether you’re going to be a parent for the very first time or you’ve been around the block, here’s a list of ten things new parents need. I could go on and on with the list and I’m not including things like breast pads or bottles or baby furniture. At the same time, I would not say that this list is 100% complete. And of course, my list will probably be different from your list. And that’s okay! This post contains affiliate links and while you are under no obligation to use them, by purchasing something through my affiliate link you are supporting this site, thanks! Why We Love Pampers Diapers

I have expressed my adoration and love for Pampers in the past. They were my preferred brand of diaper for Sweet B and they are my preferred brand of diaper for Squeaker. I tried to get into cloth diapers but I just couldn’t do it. I’ve tried other brands and  always find myself going back to Pampers. With Squeaker, we started with Swaddlers and then switched between Baby Dry and Cruisers. Currently, Squeaker is in Cruisers and they are the ideal diaper to keep up with her. They provide the best fit for her, they’re a great value, and they have adorable characters that she easily recognizes. They keep her dry overnight and comfortable. Whether she’s walking around in mommy’s sandals or dancing to music,…

Teaching Kids How to Save Money

After the conclusion of how to raise a money savvy kid, this week we’re going to begin our new series on teaching kids how to save money. This is a great skill to learn, especially early on in life when it has the potential to become a habit. That’s not to say that older children can’t be taught to save money, just that it’s easier to start at an early age. Today, we’ll talk about one way that you can start teaching kids how to save money. How can you teach kids to save money? Teaching children to save money is important and difficult. From a young age they are exposed to marketing messages telling them to buy more, want stuff, and spend money. There…
