I don’t know about you but I love using Shea butter in my every day routine. I’m not much of a beauty person, but I am all about taking good care of my skin for my overall health. But did you know that you can use Shea butter for health and beauty? My first encounter with Shea butter was when I got a sample from The Body Shop of their Shea body butter. I tend to love most products from the Body Shop but this one definitely became a new favorite of mine.

So just what is Shea butter?
Shea butter comes from the nuts of the karate tree which grows in West and Central Africa. Shea butter is also known as karate butter and the karate tree only grows in the wild. These trees take 50 years to mature and have a life expectancy of around 300 years.
How is Shea butter beneficial?
For starters, Shea butters moisturizes the skin, increases circulation, and promote cell renewal. This makes it good for fighting wrinkles. Shea butter also has some incredible healing properties and is used to heal sores, scars, burns, dermatitis, psoriasis, and dandruff.
You can use Shea butter on it’s own or you can also find it in products like lotions, shampoos, soaps, massage oils, and anti-aging creams.
For pregnant women, Shea butter is also becoming very popular for reducing stretch marks. It was definitely a favorite of mine to use during pregnancy- not only for the stretch marks but also for the dry skin.
Shea butter will have skin and hair looking young and healthy again in no time.
There is no leftover greasy feeling left on the skin as there is with many other skin care products. The butter not only helps with keeping skin youthful but it also helps to reduce skin irritations and burns and also reduce any scarring.
It is definitely possible to make your own Shea butter at home or you can purchase products like Shea Body Butter from the Body Shop.
My other favorite thing about Shea is the smell. It’s not too overpowering and when combined with a little Vanilla body spray, the scent is heavenly. My Shea routine includes: Shea shower cream, Shea body butter, and Shea body spray.
Do you use Shea butter as a part of your daily routine?
