Everyone needs money… whether they want to admit to it or not. Money, as the song goes, makes the world go round. As a stay at home mom and blogger, money is not something that I have a lot of. Sure, we have one steady income coming in thanks to Kyle’s job, but I would like to start contributing as well. Blogging certainly helps, but it’s not paying the bills just yet. With time, I’ll get there. But until that time, I’ve spent the past month or two looking into different options for part time or full time work at home opportunities. Mostly in direct sales because I’m familiar with that. But recently I had the opportunity to learn about a different way to make money through investing in real estate.
Real estate was never something I had considered, unless it was being a real estate agent. But I never pursued that further because I was unsure about the training it would require, time, having to work outside of the home, etc.
If anything, it would have been something that I would have considered as a potential home based business… but not a high possibility.
So when I had the opportunity to review How To Be A Real Estate Investor I was definitely curious enough to give it a shot.
And first, let me say, if you’re looking for a book filled with pretty pictures and a compelling story with tons of plot twists and dramatic turns- this is not for you. It’s about how to make money by investing in real estate. So if that’s what you’re after, that’s definitely what you’re going to get. And I assume that’s why you’re reading this post, yes?
So let’s get to it.
In this book, author Phil Pustejovsky begins by telling you his own story of how we went from being homeless to rich just by investing in real estate. So maybe this book does have a compelling story, or at least a story that you can relate to. Maybe not the being homeless part, but at the very least, the part about needing money.
Because we all need money.
He begins by covering the why of being a real estate investor. I mean, it’s not one of those careers that most kids come up with on career day, is it? And it’s not something that a lot of us might consider as adults. However, once you’ve given this idea some thought and think that this just might be for you, investing in real estate just might make sense.
Then Phil coaches you through how to think like an investor. Because if you’re going to be an investor, you should certainly know how to think like one.
Next, Phil talks to you about how to make fast cash and how to build long term wealth- two very important components of any business venture, I think… or at least for me. Every work at home opportunity I’ve looked into, I wanted to consider three things: initial start up, how to make money quickly, and how to make long term income.
Phil follows this up by teaching you advanced investing techniques. Now, I’ll admit, this was a bit trying to get through… but that’s also because this is not what I want to do. If it was something that truly held my interest, I’m sure I would be highlighting and taking down notes left and right.
This part of the book is followed up by looking at your future in real estate. Phil then talks to you about building your team and gives you some recommendations for further reading.
To sum up: If you are looking for ways to make money and haven’t considered investing in real estate- this book just might be for you. It’s cut and to the point. And while it may not be for me, it just might be the right fit for you.
