The Ultimate List of Eric Carle Books for Toddlers and Preschoolers

The Ultimate List of Eric Carle Books for Toddlers and Preschoolers

We absolutely love Eric Carle, renowned and beloved children’s author and illustrator. Most children are familiar with The Very Hungry Caterpillar and that was Squeaker’s first introduction into this imaginative, colorful, and playful world. We have done one mini-unit so far on this book and I have plans to do mini-units on other books in the future. Perhaps when we plan for PreK or Kindergarten, we’ll devote a unit to Eric Carle again. The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is not too far from us either, so we’ll definitely have to plan a visit there. The books that he’s written and/or illustrated are the perfect foundation for a well rounded unit or to use within other units. And with over 70 to choose…

What Are the Benefits of Teaching Babies Sign Language?

What Are the Benefits of Teaching Babies Sign Language?

Even if your child is not hearing impaired, I would highly recommend introducing sign language to your baby. This gives your baby another way to communicate before they have the words to do so and can also be an important tool later on in life. Who knows what they might encounter in a work place or school setting where the situation may call for some sign language skills. Aside from giving your child an early means of communication, there are many benefits of teaching babies sign language. Even if your child only knows a few signs or the alphabet, this can still be a huge help. For purposes of this post, I’m covering ASL or American Sign Language. When can babies learn sign language? I’m…

Typing Program for Homeschoolers of Any Age and Ability

Typing Program for Homeschoolers of Any Age and Ability

We have been on the fence about which skill is more important: learning cursive or learning to type. Ultimately, however, for our family they’re both equally important. And as a work at home & homeschooling mom, my daughter often sees me using a keyboard. She’s watched in fascination as I type without looking at my hands. And she’s asked me, quite often, how I can do that. Sometimes, it really is just second nature for me and I’m grateful that my own mom insisted so many years ago. Now, with my youngest being homeschooled, we wanted to look at options for how to teach typing skills. And one of the ways that we were able to do that? With Typesy. I was compensated for my…

How to Make Teaching Math In Your Homeschool Easy

How to Make Teaching Math In Your Homeschool Easy

Math is not my forte and quite honestly, this was always a concern for me when it came to homeschooling. I have never been the best at math, and the thought of having to help my daughter with her math homework? Not a good feeling at all. But, when we were given the opportunity to try out CTCMath in our homeschool, I had a great feeling about it. My youngest loves being able to use the computer like her work at home mom. And I’m all about letting her use it for lessons. Now that we have this homeschool math curriculum? We are both feeling more confident about it. I was compensated for my time reviewing this product/service, writing this review, and hosting the giveaway….

As we are continuing to develop our homeschool plans for our youngest, the neurotypical child who just so happens to be my highly sensitive, strong-willed, and gifted child; we are looking for the foundational elements. My daughter loves to read and we are always looking for opportunities to utilize curriculum that develops her critical thinking skills. For our family, Pathways is such an ideal fit.  I was compensated for my time reviewing this product/service, writing this review, and hosting the giveaway. Easy to Use Homeschool Curriculum My youngest taught herself how to read and because of that, our homeschooling curriculum choices have been literacy rich. I wanted to find curriculum that was flexible for our homeschool day, and that was also engaging for her. Added perks…

Easy Ways to Engage the Early Learner at Home

Easy Ways to Engage the Early Learner at Home

As we are continuing to develop our homeschool program, I’m looking for ways to mix things up and keep things interesting. One way that we’re doing this, is by using a mix of online and offline learning materials. We were so excited to find out that Reading Eggs now has workbooks! This post is sponsored by Reading Eggs. I was given workbooks to try with my family and was compensated for my time. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I wasn’t required to give a positive review. Please see my full disclosure for details. Easy Ways to Engage the Early Learner at Home My daughter, I’m finding out, learns in several ways. Some things she picks up hands-on, some are better with repetition, and…
