Summer brings warmer weather (usually) and cries of “I’m bored” (often) from older children. But it doesn’t always have to be like this. For younger children, it may be easier to keep them entertained without falling back on a screen.
Now, don’t get me wrong, we still do some screen time during the summer, but we prefer to be outdoors as much as possible. We also prefer to save money, so today I want to talk about budget friendly summer fun ideas for toddlers. You can, of course, adapt these to use with your older children as well.
Budget Friendly Summer Fun Ideas for Toddlers
Our most favorite way to have fun during the summer is to make a day of it at the park. Usually we go up to meet friends and eventually we’ll also plan to have a picnic lunch.
Of course, we do try to limit the time in the sun and look for shaded areas depending on the time of the day. We pack plenty of water bottles, snacks, and when it’s particularly hot, we bring along a cool treat. Budget Saver Twin Pops have been our treat of choice, lately.
Whether we enjoy them at the park or at home.

One of our most recent MOMents? Squeaker was having a grand time in her kiddie pool. In fact, it’s one of her favorite places to be when the weather permits.
However, when we have to come back inside? She’s not so thrilled.
But, we were able to turn that around with a Budget Saver Twin Pop and a new game of ice-pop matching cards.
How do you prevent stressful situations and turn them into sweet MOMents?
