Some mornings, I feel like I can take on the world. Granted, those mornings are few and far between but they do happen. Sometimes.
More often than not, however, it’s a struggle to make it through my morning. Or at least not with copious amounts of coffee. I could, and should, help my own cause by not skipping breakfast on a routine basis. I know that breakfast helps… it’s why I make sure that my daughter’s have breakfast every morning.
So why do I neglect this for myself?
Chalk it up to being a mom who thinks she can do all the things.
I should realize, by now, that I’m not SuperMom. I can’t do it all, no matter how hard I try. Multi-tasking usually leads to me being even more stressed out and overwhelmed. But I do it anyway because it’s what I do. I take on too much and try to do all the things. And then I get burned out and I’m right back at square one. Trying to figure out a plan to make things work.
Some days I do run myself ragged, even though it may not seem like it to others. And while I may try my best, I’m really not doing my best.
But, I can be at my best for my kids and for my business. Yes, I consider this blog to be my business- I have to. Because that’s what it is. This blog is the spine and nervous system of my business empire. Or at least that’s how I envision things in my head.
In reality I know that if I don’t get this blog into shape- my empire won’t have a solid foundation.
And in order to do that, I need to take care of myself and get in the zone.
I can start by having breakfast. Something so simple and yet something that I skip far more often than I should. But it really is simple and something that I should be doing, you know? Even if it’s something like a smoothie and a ZonePerfect® Nutrition Bar. Smoothies tend to be my go-to when I’m on the run anyway. And now I can pair it with a tasty ZonePerfect nutrition bar like Chocolate Peanut Butter or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
This smoothie is so simple and easy! I really don’t know why I don’t make it more often.
- Chop half of a banana
- Add 1 cup of milk or chocolate milk
- Add 1/2 cup of plain or vanilla yogurt
- Blend until smooth
Paired with a tasty ZonePerfect nutrition bar, I have the energy that I need to start my day right and get in the zone.
But, because I still try to take on all the things, sometimes by the afternoon I start to feel a little drained. You know what I’m talking about right? The midafternoon slump. Or jazz it up a little.

- Cut one ZonePerfect nutrition bar in half (or thirds depending on how small you want your snack)
- Top each with a small spoonful of vanilla yogurt and a slice of banana
- If you’re making these in the morning, wrap with plastic wrap and place in the freezer until it’s snack time.
Now if I’d just remember to do these things so I can still feel like I can do all the things 😉
