Christmas season has always been one of my favorite times of the year. I am one of those people that likes to listen to Christmas music all year. But I try to be reasonable when it comes to decorating. This year, I really want to get Squeaker involved and I also want to teach her about the history of Christmas. Yes, we are a Christian family but that also means balancing out legends and myths with Biblical origins.
We’ll base the majority of our Christmas countdown using the Toddler Christmas book and each day, we’ll add a new paper link to our Nativity chain. We’ll also create a new ornament for our Jesse Tree.
Each day, we’ll also read a book. Some are more focused on the Biblical side of Christmas. Others are legend based. And others are more for fun. I want to make sure that I have a mixture of books.
Once we have completed the daily book (and craft, activity, or recipe) I will add it to this page. You are free to substitute a book if you’d like.
I am hesitant to call this an Advent countdown because it incorporates more. But you can definitely work Advent into this as well. Honestly, I think having an Advent calendar will help with keeping track. Though you’ll end up with one more book if you follow a calendar. Do what works for you and your family! Or do this in preparation of Advent.
