Time Saving Healthy Cooking Tips and Common Kitchen Abbreviations

I absolutely love to cook. We’re working on goals to eating healthier this year and that usually means cooking as much as we can at home. I’ll have another printable cheat sheet up soon for you covering basic cooking substitutions. And, be sure to check out my basic cooking tips for beginners. Bacon and Squash Pancakes

Bacon and Squash Pancakes

If you’re looking for a way to start using up all that fresh and delicious squash, I’ve got a great recipe for you! Sure, we know that you can make zucchini bread and I do love sauteed zucchini and zucchini chips. But I wanted to look for something different. I came across a recipe for zucchini pancakes and decided that I needed to make it my own. I bought some lovely looking yellow squash at the farmer’s market so I wanted to use that instead of the green zucchini. Another way I made it my own was by adding some bacon, so we ended up with a tasty bacon and squash pancake for a tasty side dish. We don’t fry food too much but when…

20+ Crockpot Meatball Recipes

In my continued quest for easy meatball recipes, I can’t overlook one of my most favorite kitchen appliances- the crockpot. Some call it a slow cooker, some call it a crockpot. Call it what you will, but this has become one of my most favorite ways to prepare meals. Especially when all I have to do is toss in my ingredients, set the heat, and walk away. That’s why I’ve gathered over 20 crockpot meatball recipes for you to try with your family. I’m sure that we’ll try a few of these in the future as I see some that are definitely up our alley. I’m sure we’ll try the basic spaghetti and meatballs at some point, but I’d really love to see how those…

Tex Mex Twist on a Basic Meatball Recipe

Let me start by saying: I love meatloaf and I love meatballs. So trying to find recipes for them has become quite the past time of mine. We’ve started making more meatballs than meatloaf and I was looking for a twist on the basic meatball recipe.  Not that I don’t enjoy a good, basic meatball or easy meatball recipes, but I wanted to spice things up a bit. Or at least change it up it a bit while still maintaining the classic meatball ingredients that we’ve come to enjoy. I almost thought we were done with meatballs since the weather was finally starting to warm up and I didn’t want to use the oven so much. But the recent string of cooler weather has given…

Copycat Liquid Yoga Recipe

We live not too far from an Emack and Bolio and they have become one of my favorite places to go for ice cream. But, whenever we do go there, I don’t end up ordering ice cream. Instead, I get this delicious creation called a Liquid Yoga. It starts with Chai and includes frozen vanilla yogurt, and a banana. But my problem? Twofold. I don’t want to walk there to get it and I don’t want to pay $5.50 to drink it. So, I decided to make my own copycat liquid yoga recipe and see if I could recreate this deliciousness at home. Easy enough, right? This delicious smoothie has now become a go-to for a quick breakfast or afternoon pick me up. This post…

Spinach, Pork, and Artichoke Casserole

So I mentioned that spinach kick, right? Well, here’s another recipe to add to that only this time it’s a spinach, pork, and artichoke casserole. Yes, this may have been because of my love for spinach and artichoke dip. I’m not sure what it is about the combination, but I love it. So I wanted to see how that would translate to a casserole, and a quick google search lead me to finding a chicken and artichoke casserole and with my trend to add spinach, I thought- why not. Sweet B is somewhat picky about what she’ll eat so I have yet to try this with her. Squeaker, however, absolutely loved it… though not quite as much as the spinach, turkey, and quinoa casserole.  Anyway…..
