Handprint Keepsake Pumpkin Craft for Toddlers or Preschoolers

I have a love for handprint crafts. I think that they’re a lot of fun to do with kids, especially when you do the same ones year after year because you can see just how much your child has grown. Now that Squeaker is becoming more willing to participate in craft time, I’ve tried out a few crafts with her. We made a handprint and pom pom apple tree earlier this month and now we’re moving on to pumpkin themed crafts. For this one, I also tried out a cornstarch based dough instead of a salt dough and I was really pleased with how it turned out. I hope that you and your children will enjoy making this handprint keepsake pumpkin craft as much as…

K-Cup Crow Craft

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this, but I absolutely love crows. I’m not sure why because well, yes, they can be loud and annoying. But I find them to be amazingly smart and curious creatures to watch. Every Fall, I take out my stuffed crows so that they can take their places of honor throughout the house. This year, I wanted to try something different. Since I recently started drinking coffee again, we’ve been buying K-Cups because it’s easier for us. We have accumulated quite a few and I wanted to find a way to repurpose them. One of the ideas that I was toying with was making a k-cup crow. How to Make a K-Cup Crow (or Penguin) On second glance, I…

Toilet Paper Roll Pirate Craft

Yo ho, me harties! International Talk Like a Pirate Day be coming up on September 19th. It’s one of the few days of the year that I can overlook grammar and spelling in the name of talking like a pirate. I blame this partially on a lifelong love of the ride, Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland… only to be fueled further when one of my favorite actors took on the iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow. But I digress. I’ve teamed up with a fabulous group of bloggers to aid you in your swashbuckling adventures and to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day in whatever way you see fit. Squeaker and I made a colorful toilet paper roll pirate captain and his (or her)…

Origins of Halloween

Every year, on October 31st, comes the holiday of Halloween. Some may celebrate it, while others don’t. Some may go all out and decorate their homes, while others will treat it like any other day. Growing up, I think I looked forward to the costumes than I did trick or treating. And now, as an adult and a parent, I definitely enjoy decorating for Halloween. I don’t go all out because it’s not a major holiday for us, but I do like to carve pumpkins and hand out candy. When I had my old site, I always had holiday pages up and one section was dedicated especially to the history and legends of Halloween. I want to bring a bit of that back and talk…

20 More Toddler Hairstyles

Even though Squeaker’s hair is just long enough for pigtails, we have experimented with tiered ponytails and she seems to be okay with that. Granted, I can only get two tiers before her hair starts to look a little funny on the bottom and I don’t think she likes it very much either. Most of the time, though, she’s just happy to have her “pretty” and be done for the day. Still, I want to make sure that we have plenty of ideas to fall back on, so in addition to the original toddler hairstyles for girls here are are 20 more toddler hairstyles for girls. I think one of the most important things about doing her hair, even if it is simple pigtails, is…
